The Twin Cities Tap Festival began in 2015 out of the love for tap dance. But more than that, the Festival aims to highlight the incredible breadth, depth, and artistry of this art form.

Tap artists are not only dancers but musicians-- not only performers but historians. Tap Dance sits at the center of culture and artistry in our society. Tap is an art form that is dynamic, versatile, diverse, and also one of the most accessible dance forms.

The cultural and historical context in which tap was born make it even more relevant than ever. With roots in African dance, jazz music, and other vernacular percussive dance, tap is one that embodies American cultural heritage. Tap has always been about more than dance.
It's cultural expression.
It's music.
It's art.
