Sleet Magazine is a free online literary journal founded in Spring 2009. From its
humble beginnings on the carpeted floor in a Metro State hallway, through the
Masters Program at Hamline University, Sleet has evolved into a full-fledged,
cosmopolitan, high-end production. Sleet has featured of host of Twin Cities writers,
including Deborah Keenan, Suzanne Nielsen, Jim Heynen, Jim Moore, Jim Lenfesty and Su Smallen. We have also proudly printed work by international authors, as well as famous guys Ralph Angel and Mark Doty, and famous dead guy Dylan Thomas.
Tonight, in conjunction with AWP, the national writing convention, Sleet showcases writers from our 7-year history, reading poetry, fiction and CNF.
The New Sh!t Show Minneapolis is a monthly multidisciplinary series with one rule: All work must be new work. Founded in San Francisco, NSSMPLS is the third spinoff of the original and was written up by Citypages Minneapolis in their Favorite Literary Moments of 2014 feature. Despite the accolades, it’s still a total madhouse. Our special AWP performers are Sara Brickman (Seattle, WA), Allison Broeren (Minneapolis, MN), Chantz Erolin (Minneapolis, MN), Emily O’Neill (Boston, MA) and New Sh!t Show founder Sam Sax (Austin, TX.)
The show is usually held every third Friday of the month, 8 p.m., at Fox Egg Gallery in Minneapolis.
