EDTalks is a lively series of networking and education events that engages young professionals in public education issues in the Twin Cities. Each program features two compelling 20-minute presentations by cutting-edge educators, youth advocates, journalists, artists, policy-makers and others, along with ample time for conversation and networking.

EDTalks is presented by AchieveMpls and The Citizens League in partnership with Young Education Professionals - Twin Cities. 

February 29 EDTalks will be moderated by Adia Morris, with presentations by Bertrand Weber, Director of Nutrition & Culinary Services at Minneapolis Public Schools and Dr. Megan Gunnar, Regents Professor, and Director of the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota. 

"Looking Through a Window at School Lunches"
Bertrand Weber is Director of Culinary and Nutrition Services for Minneapolis Public Schools, where he has radically transformed school nutrition and is a leader in the Farm to School movement. Born in Switzerland, he is a former hotel and resort manager whose passion for the well-being of children and our environment led him to Hopkins Public Schools. His innovative approaches to school meals have received national attention.  

"Early Experience and Brain Development: Why We’re Starting Too Late"
Dr. Megan Gunnar is a Regents Professor, Associate Director of the Center for Neurobehavioral Development and Director of the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota. She studies the impact of stress on behavioral development and how children regulate stress. Dr. Gunnar chairs the Research Advisory Council for the Minnesota Children’s Museum and is a consultant for the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
