Twin Cities based punk-jazz and “slipsync” masters FOTHOU (Fall of the House of Usher) usher in the fall harvest season with their latest musical offering
Time To Play
—a 40 minute-plus, six song EP on Bandcamp, featuring both live and studio tracks. The FOTHOU father-son team of guitarist/composer/arranger Chris and sax prodigy Ivan Cunningham are joined by many of the local scene’s most fearless and virtuosic instrumentalists— including wife and mother Michelle Kinney on cello (just to round out this family affair). The album also features special guest spoken word/freestyle maestro Joe Horton of Mixed Blood Majority on two tracks; one being a No Wave/Sun Ra inspired performance of Walt Whitman’s “Faces” from Leaves of Grass.

FOTHOU’s collective roster of players and guest artists is always expanding, but Time To Play features regulars Chris Bates, Greg Schutte, Cole Pulice, Noah Ophoven Baldwin, Adam Svec, along with performances by Charlie Lincoln, Adrian Larkin, Nathan Hanson, Elliott Wachs, Jared Jarvis, and George Adzick.

On FOTHOU’s Icehouse and Elsewhere debut album:
A very cool and unexpected compendium of wig-out conjuring from the mind and soul of a very cool and anything but predictable musical cat. In this Ecstatomatique tribute to some of the all-time great compositions, freneticism meets the phantasmagoric—while Stravinsky, DeNiro, and John McLaughlin get remixed in what might be described as dark burst jazz-morph orchestral wilding. The fact that it’s a family affair makes this album all the more special. FOSOOTH, this disc be… FOTHOU!
