Chris Lomheim:
Chris began playing music at age seven studying organ until his teens where he switched from organ to piano studies with legendary Minneapolis instructor Herb Wigley. In his later teens studied with mentor and Brazilian pianist and composer Manfredo Fest.
At age seventeen Chris was selected by the Twin Cities Jazz Society as an up and coming artist and was awarded a citation from the National Association of Jazz Educators for exemplary achievements in jazz performance. As part of the selection Chris was interviewed by legendary jazz radio hostLeigh Kamman on his radio show "The Jazz Image" on Minnesota Public Radio.
In 1991 Chris won the West Bank School of Music composers forum which featured his quartet, playing all original compositions in a live performance at Augsburg College in Minneapolis . The performance was video recorded and aired onMinneapolis Public Television.
As leader of the Chris Lomheim Trio he has produced 3 CD's"And You've Been Waiting?" (1994) featuring all original compositions, and "The Bridge" (2002) featuring a mix of originals and a handful of standards and "TIMELINE"
(2014) featuring all originals . Chris was nominated best pianist in the 1997 Minnesota Music Awards.
Chris is a member of the all original jazz group "The Illicit Sextet" which has produced 2 CD's "Chapter One" (1993) and "Chapter 11" (2013) The group was named Best Jazz Instrumental Group in the Minnesota Music Awards in 1993.
Chris has played "The Green Mill" jazz club in Chicago in 1996 where he headlined in a quartet featuring trumpet playerRex Richardson. He is a regular at Twin Cities jazz venues including The Artists' Quarter, Jazz Central, Ice House andThe Dakota Jazz Club, and is featured at the Twin Cities Jazz Festival every year.
Chris has been pianist for Lobby Tea at The luxurious St. Paul Hotel since 1991.
Chris was awarded the Minnesota State Arts Board "Artist Initiative" Grant for 2014
James Buckley:
“Meet James Buckley, the hardest-working musician in the Twin Cities” -Erin Roof, Citypages. James performed live with Lizzo on The Late Show with Steven Colbert, December 2016. As the mainstay bassist for The Pines, James has been touring internationally with the indie-folk group and appears on their Red House Records releases "Tremolo", "Dark So Gold", "Pasture: Folk Songs", and "Above The Prairie". James recorded bass with Minneapolis super-group, "Gayngs" on their "The Last Prom on Earth" album, and played their performance at First Avenue, along with Coachella Music Festival April 2011. James co-founded and was bassist for Minneapolis' circuit-bending noisy pop-funk trio Mystery Palace, fronted and produced by Ryan Olcott of 12 Rods fame. James appears live and on recordings with Emmy Award-Winning, Universal Records Artists, The Blenders. James most recently performed with Har Mar Superstar for an extensive world tour, highlighted by a live television performance on "Le Petit Journal" in Paris, France.
