THE HOME FIRES:
The heartbeat of the Minneapolis/St. Paul music scene thrives on the diverse styles of music being created and performed. Within the ever changing fabric that nurtures new trends, the cities are becoming a haven for Americana music which have allowed songwriters like Sarah Morris and Vicky Emerson to launch their burgeoning solo careers. In 2016, Sarah and Vicky became close friends through similar interests as musicians, as mothers and how they juggle the everyday challenge of keeping those two entities in balance.
Vicky and Sarah began touring together in support of their recent individual releases. Initially, their idea was that a shared tour made financial sense, but at their first rehearsal everything changed. With Sarah's clear, melodic voice combined with Vicky's warm and weathered harmony, they discovered a completely new sound. A sound that combines traditional country and Americana music with stellar harmonies accompanied by their guitars and piano. And it's a sound that audiences can't get enough of. At their debut radio interview on Radio Heartland as a duo, the host Mike Pengra from Minnesota Public Radio, declared, "It's as if Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams joined forces!"
At the end of 2016, Sarah and Vicky made the duo official and they are now The Home Fires. 'Home' represents the love they have for their families, but the 'Fire' represents the continued passion that they both have for music and songwriting. They are currently writing songs together for a debut album and will be touring the Midwest in 2017.
