Kelley Mak:
Touching the mic for the first time at age 18, the poet turned MC has been turning heads ever since. Performing predominantly out of Southern and Northern California, Mak has an impressive musical resume, most recently being added to the House of Vibe All Stars, a band made up of rotating music legends that support world renowned mc's such as Chali 2na and Talib Kweli, and Supernatural. Crossing genres of music such as hip-hop, soul, R&B, EDM and reggae, this phenom has captured hearts and minds around the world with her songwriting, sultry singing, intellectual lyricism, and passionate stage performances.
In the past two years, an independent solo tour in Europe, radio broadcasting advertisements, and hosting large festivals and events has provided even further experience in the entertainment industry for Kelley Mak, and she is getting ready to add a lecturing position to her catalogue, teaching the elements of being an MC at a hip hop camp known as Creative Summers in Portland, OR. Her personality beams across a room, her raspy voice bellows through the crowds, and it is truly obvious that when this woman performs it is straight from her soul. She tells stories of her not so glamorous past that evoke goose bumps, makes you smile and breaks your heart with soulful interpretations of love, and forces you to jump out of your seat with an undeniable urge to dance all in one show. Her voice is her instrument and her physical being strikes its chords to create a truly heartfelt and original experience every time she performs, be it on a stage or out of the speakers in your car.
Mak is currently working with Jaeda Glasgow, another amazing representation of females in hip hop, forming the powerhouse duo know as The Muzes, and you can catch her alongside Deploi and Freewill of the Luminaries in the House of Vibe All Stars. If you’re out on the festival circuit, find her with Dj Dirtbag and The Redwood Rings Hoop Troupe in a collaborative showcase of in your face entertainment, and when shes in her home town in the Inland Empire you can catch her in the studio with Bobby Lo, Excel Beats, or Rek Levan at Shui Cafe. Kelley Mak’s diversity and one love attitude has and will continue to take her many places, so the question is…where will YOU bring Kelley next?
"Heads take notice, the I.E. does possess a well of untapped talent with Kelley Mak as proof." -Hamza 21
