We never celebrate milestones; however, 5 years has a nice ring to it and it is time to celebrate with past and present employees along with all of the artists, partners and friends who have helped make this place happen! Join us June 2-8 for a week long celebration featuring performances by a few familiar bands. Cover will be $5 per show. The kitchen will be creating a "best of" food menu and the bar will be slinging drink specials featuring Jim Beam products. We can't thank everyone enough for their support these first 5 years!
Erik Koskinen:
Musically sprouted from the blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues, Erik Koskinen and his top-shelf band realize a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Koskinen’s albums are a lyrical and musical metaphor of American’s theaters of war, of history, of relationships, and of the reflections in the mirror. Knowing but not didactic, Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor.
Candor and craft are front and center on Koskinen’s live album, Live at The Real Phonic Radio Hour. Recorded at the monthly James J. Hill Library Radio Show in St. Paul, MN from 2011-2015. All fifteen songs capture the power of music made in synchronous time, place, and company. Koskinen, whose last two albums Keep It To Yourself (2010) and America Theatre (2014) showcased his witty lyricism, sharp tongue, and poignant songs, does them one better with Live, releasing some old favorites along with eight never-before-recorded songs. Along with the band, Koskinen’s friends play along to some of the tunes for a rousing good time including crowd-favorite, “Detroit, Detroit”, with Dave Simonett, Ryan Young, and Tim Saxhaug of Trampled by Turtles. Other special guests on the album include Michael Rossetto, Jeremy Johnson, Richard Medek, Mike Lewis, Andy Dee, and Noah Levy.
BBGUN:
BBGUN began in a sunny living room, over coffee, on a Friday morning that quickly turned into every Friday morning. Musicians and songwriters Al Church and Neal Perbix's distinct styles, matured over years of Minneapolis gigs, wove to form lyrics that are both contemplative and playful and harmonies both sophisticated and singable. Complemented by Jeremy Hanson's expert, easy drumming, their rock 'n' roll tunes sound best blasted from the speakers of a pickup truck. BBGUN's solid debut album documents the anxiety and surprising joys of trading in late-night cigarettes for a kind of settling down.
Dusty Heart:
Rich vocal harmonies merge with intimate layers of guitar, fiddle and banjo to define the lush sound of Dusty Heart. Brought together through a shared wanderlust and love for musical harmony, the powerhouse duo has crafted a dynamic and haunting sound rooted in the vast landscape of the American Heartland that bridges together the diverse musical worlds of roots, indie, and folk.
