Pat Donohue:

Grammy winning fingerpicker Pat Donohue’s devotion to acoustic guitar has made him an American standard, as he echoes the tones of Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Merle Travis or Muddy Waters. A versatile guitarist’s guitarist, Pat enjoys entertaining fans with intricate
fingerpicking, easy wit, and nimble interpretations of old blues, swing, R&B and original tunes.

For over twenty years Pat was the lead guitar player and songwriter for the “Guy’s All Star Shoe Band” on the NPR favorite “Prairie Home Companion”. Pat is now touring the US playing a variety of venues including blues, folk and singer-songwriter concerts, workshops and guitar camps.

“Donohue is a clever songwriter who uses intelligent, creative rhymes and wastes few words. His instrumentals display his characteristic of clarity and ingenuity, combining the essential qualities of the originals with his own recognizable fresh sound. He brilliantly mixes register
changes, picking variations and tricks, and bass line melodies. Even the simplest musical conventions take on a richness under his fingers.”—Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

“The Prairie All Stars”

Richard Kriehn, Gary Raynor, Dan Newton and Peter Johnson, all at one time were members of the “Guys All Star Shoe Band” on NPR’s long running radio broadcast of “ A Prairie Home Companion”. Pat has reconnected with this stellar group of musicians to record a new CD, “Blue Yonder”, released earlier in 2016.

With Richard on mandolin, Gary on bass, Dan on accordion, Peter on drums and Pat on guitar and vocals the band has been playing local clubs and performance centers in and around the Twin Cities this year. Pat’s clever songwriting and enormous finger style guitar capability adds to the performances which are gathering acclaim. From blues to
folk to rock-a-billy and more this expert band of players gives the audience a great night of music and fun too!
