Gabriel Douglas:

Gabriel Douglas has built his reputation on the churning, heavy-thumping blues rock of the 4onthefloor, whose sound is defined as much by his wild man warrior-bellow vocals as it is by the steady pulse of the four members’ synchronous bass-drum thuds—but a delve into the corners of his catalog reveals an artist with a startling breadth of interests. The man keeps busy, holding down gigs in several stylistically distinct groups while regularly performing and recording solo. The solo shows let the guttural howls show through and the songs breathe new lives as stripped down road songs.

His new record let’s his voice carry throughout the album. The lovely additions of a ’68 Gibson LG0 & lap steel give a warmth and depth to the songs that is quite pleasing to the ear.

Jake Ilika:

Jake Ilika is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, one half of Ilika Ward Duo, and frontman of The Heavy Set.  Playing fingerstyle guitar, he covers the bases of Americana with folk, blues and alt-country stylings.  His first solo record, "Live At Casket Arts" was released digitally in March of 2015, and the latest Heavy Set album, "Everybody's Got A Mountain" was recorded and produced by Erik Koskinen, and released in November of 2015 to local praise and acclaim.  Its single "River" was featured on The Local Show, made the Top 89 Local Songs poll, and placing 47th out of 89 local nominations.  He was an interim guitarist for local favorites The 4onthefloor over the summer of 2015, and regularly sits in with area performers on guitar and pedal steel.  Ilika continues to make a name for himself in the Twin Cities, playing regularly with his duo, band, and solo appearances at venues, festivals, and taprooms all over the city.
