Join us for our first EDTalks of the 2019-20 season, with two inspiring presentations on the power of student voice by students, educators and youth advocates.

1. Blackbox Theatre: Creating Change In and Out of the Classroom - Blackbox Theatre at Washburn High School provides a safe space for students to create, perform and tour original theater that helps break down social barriers and build bridges. Student actors will speak their truths about public education and how creating original theater can make change both in and out of the classroom. They'll be joined by Washburn acting teacher Crystal Spring.

2. Voices of Tomorrow: How Student Stories Can Transform Schools - Student voice is essential for school health and vitality. Josh Fraser and Ambar Hanson from Voices of Tomorrow will describe how connecting school leaders with authentic student stories can help them better understand young people and ensure that they feel valued and respected. They'll be joined by Brooklyn Center Community Schools leaders to share how this process supports students, boosts achievement and strengthens school culture.
