Brandon Wozniak:

One of Minnesota’s most exciting saxophonists. He returned to the twin cities in 2006 after six years in New York City and a six month stint in Shanghai, China. Wozniak studied music at Indiana University with David Baker and privately with Tom Walsh. Brandon performs regularly with Dave King’s (Bad Plus, Happy Apple drummer) Dave King Trucking Company with saxophonist Chris Speed, the Atlantis Quartet (City Pages Best Jazz Artist 2011, Star Tribune Best Jazz Artist 2012), the great drummer Eric Kamau Gravatt(Weather Report, McCoy Tyner), Bryan Nichols Quintet, Chris Bates Red 5, PBR Street Gang, Lars Larson’s Mancrush, Cory Healey’s Beautiful Happy Sunshine Band, Steve Kenny Quartet and DD7. Brandon has also performed with singer Nellie McKay, toured with the Tommy Dorsey Jazz Orchestra and shared the stage with organ great Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jonathan Kreisberg, Francisco Mela(Joe Lovano’s US Five), Steve Davis, David Berkman and Dennis Gonzalez.

Kameron Markworth:

Kameron Markworth is an active bassist, composer, teaching artist, and bandleader based in Minneapolis, MN. He plays electric and upright bass primarily as a freelancer and has performed with notable Twin Cities acts including Peter Schimke, the Adam Meckler Orchestra, Javi Santiago, the Collide Theatrical Dance Company, Aaron Hedenstrom, the MN Hard Bop Quintet, Omar AbdulKareem, the Jana Nyberg Group, Carei Thomas, Bob’s Band ft. The MN Orchestra String Quartet, Jake Baldwin, the Bill Simenson Orchestra, and many more. In 2015 he started his own group, Claw Machine, to showcase his own compositions and has been featured at Jazz Central Studios in Minneapolis. Other performance activities have included innumerable stints with Rock/R&B bands, pit and stage work at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater and Soap Factory, and too many big band performances to keep track of. Prior to establishing himself in the Twin Cities, Kameron was active on the east coast, performing primarily in New York City and Philadelphia venues.

Kameron discovered his passion for teaching as a graduate student while serving as an Associate Instructor at Indiana University (IU) under the supervision of the late legendary Jazz pedagogue, Dr. David N. Baker. At IU, in addition to directing a Jazz Ensemble and coaching Jazz Combos, he both led and supported Dr. Baker’s courses in Jazz History, Soul Music History, and Jazz Improvisation. This experience of working closely with an individual who participated in the development of Jazz music through the modern era still informs Kameron’s teaching today at Augsburg University by keeping the focus not just on the music, but also on the culture and humanity from which the music was born. In addition to his courses at Augsburg, Kameron maintains a small studio of dedicated private bass students in the Kingfield neighborhood of Southwest Minneapolis.
