Think & Drink: Gender Performativity
The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) Master of Fine Arts program presents “Think & Drink: Gender Performativity” at Icehouse MPLS on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 5:00pm. This event starts with thematic cocktail demonstrations by Icehouse MPLS’s bartenders, followed by Professor Sara Cluggish, presenting a brief introduction to the theory of gender performativity. Questions and answers, as well as discussion, will close the event. This event is free to attend with thematic cocktails available for purchase.
Sara Cluggish is a writer and curator based in Minneapolis. She earned her MFA in curating and BFA in photography. Her research interests lie at the intersection of performance and moving image scholarship, with an emphasis on gender and sexuality studies.
This event is organized by the MFA Program at MCAD. This program in visual studies is a community of makers, thinkers, researchers, and creative professionals working in a mentor-based, interdisciplinary environment.
Icehouse is located in what was originally the loading docks to the old Cedar Fuel and Ice where over 75,000 tons of Ice was harvested each year and later a part of Icehouse studios where many audio and video recordings took place. The original brick and wood ceiling still remains and was incorporated into the design of Icehouse the restaurant, bar and music venue.
