Zaq Baker:
Zaq Baker leads a piano-driven pop/rock quartet in order to bring you a big catalogue of songs about staying up late. Vacillating between laugh-out-loud imagery and painstaking sincerity, his songs dwell on night-owl heartbreak and on growing up. His lyrics and arrangements reconcile the adolescent spirit and catchy-or-die attitude of pop-punk; the influence of songwriters of all stripes; fiercely original rock piano architecture; and a healthy amount of musical theatre. His band features Sheldon Way, Seth Duin, Molly Brandt, and Andy Kallevig.
theyself:
“a panic attack you can dance to...”
Commonly known as 'doc' Pat Dougherty is an artist and multi-instrumentalist that started writing songs in a borrowed storage closet on the West Bank of Minneapolis. After touring the United States with several DIY bands for a few years, they took a year off and wrote a song a week debuting each new work at residency gig at the former Minneapolis haunt Reverie and forming the sound that led to theyself: a mix of Americana roots woven with stompin' beats, indie pop hooks, and soulful blues, and in 2017 the project was nominated for 'Best New Band' by City Pages.
Designed as a 'panic attack you can dance to' their debut EP Wolf Tower was tracked one night on an 8-track tape recorder in a hotel room using a pair of headphones as a makeshift microphone. In 2018 it was put at #7 on the list of 'MN Records of the Year' by KBEK FM.
VIAL:
VIAL is a Minneapolis-based band of students focused on activism in diversity and inclusion in the music scene. Their punk songs with pop prowesses explore the aspects of looming adulthood and gender dynamics.
VIAL is proudly femme in a scene inundated by masculine acts and is known to serve "sassy punk uppercuts to put you in your place" (Natalie Fideler).
Comprised of KT Branscom on vocals and guitar, Kate Kanfield on vocals and bass, Taylor Kraemer on vocals and keytar, and Katie Fischer on vocals and drums.
