The ongoing iNMiGRATiON series is designed as a raw creative process laid bare, where lines are blurred between “performer” and “audience”, where there are no fixed focal points, and where multiple voices, perspectives, impulses, and images are honed in a collective adventure in harmony and discovery.

The name and concept behind iNMiGRATiON, comes from nature – birds migrating on different flight paths and journeys, coming to pause together in a particular place, on the branches of the same tree, to sing their songs together for a brief time, creating moments of spontaneous collaboration before they fly off on their own paths again. Some birds sing, some just listen.

Artistic Director / composer JG Everest has been curating and presenting large-scale experimental music showcases in Minneapolis for over two decades, beginning with the legendary FREELOADED WEDNESDAYS series at The Front in the late '90s, a springboard and melting pot for influential artists like Atmosphere & Rhymesayers, Happy Apple, Casino Royale, The Sensational Joint Chiefs, Detroit, EG Bailey & Sha Cage, Andrew Broder, and many more. This was followed by the groundbreaking Dinkytowner Cafe's CROSSFADED music + video series, where acts like DOSH, Poor Line Condition, Doomtree, FOG, Spaghetti Western, LATEDUSTER, and many more experimented with new sounds and collaborations, emerging from the vibrant Minneapolis underground. In 2015 Everest launched the roaming iNMiGRATiON series with an ever-expanding roster of collaborating artists across disciplines including poetry, visual art, performance, and video art, and moving outdoors to venues like the American Swedish Institute, Midtown Farmers Market, and Square Lake Festival.
