O stand, stand at the window

You shall love your crooked neighbour
With your crooked heart - from As I Walked Out One Evening, W. H. Auden
Her Crooked Heart is a band, a lady, a concept, and a shifting collective of friends. Led by Rachel Ries – songwriter, producer, tiny home builder, uncommon choir director – and joined by Siri Undlin, Adelyn Strei and Hilary James*, HCH focuses on getting to the messy heart of the matter with wit, grit and disarming harmonies. On stage they are far outnumbered by their instruments, ranging from clarinet to korg; drum pad to cello. 2019 saw the release of To Love To Leave To Live, Rachel's first album after eschewing her given name as musical moniker, and in 2019/early 2020 the 4-piece toured throughout the US, UK and Ireland. Until, of course, everything came to a bizarre and quiet halt. New music is coming. This is their first Twin Cities show since a magical night in Oct 2019 on the Icehouse stage with Anaïs Mitchell.
"Rachel Ries [aka Her Crooked Heart] has a sensibility as familiar and comforting as it is surprising. At one turn, she's got the vocal prowess of Tori Amos; at another, the complexity of Radiohead." –Amy Reitnouer, Executive Director, The Bluegrass Situation
*Rachel is joined tonight by: Siri Undlin (Humbird) // Adelyn Strei (Adelyn Rose, Dessa, We Are the Willows, Bathtub Cig) // Hilary James (Bathtub Cig, We Are the Willows, Esme Patterson)
