Sprig of That:
Acoustic folk trio Sprig of That (Krissy Bergmark, tabla; Ilan Blanck, guitar; Isabel Dammann, fiddle) and banjoist Anthony Ihrig (High 48's) return to Icehouse with all-new music! After a year of instrumental exploration and innovation during the pandemic, Anthony Ihrig brings a fresh new set of solo arrangements for banjo/guitar, voice and foot percussion, and Sprig of That shares a collection of brand-new tunes from their upcoming album of original music. Sprig and Ihrig may even collaborate on a tune or two - you'll have to be there to find out!
Serendipity, a mutual friend, and a shared love of string band music brought Sprig of That together in Minneapolis in January of 2018. Since then, the trio, comprising Krissy Bergmark on tabla, Isabel Dammann on violin, and Ilan Blanck on guitar, has made a name for themselves performing lush original works and fresh arrangements of folk favorites that have delighted audiences across the country. Occupying a space somewhere between Northern European fiddle styles, modern American string music, and the “indie classical” contemporary classical movement, the trio distills a wide range of musical interests into a cohesive and joyful sound that is constantly evolving.
ANTHONY IHRIG:
Anthony Ihrig is a banjo playing songwriter from Minneapolis who weaves together modern storytelling with wistful folk melodies and head-nodding grooves on traditional bluegrass instruments. As a solo performer and member of the award-winning bluegrass band The High 48s, Anthony is known for connecting with audiences through heart-felt songwriting, high-energy performances and spontaneous stories from the stage.
