Broken Caterpillar: Dan Rein (Iranian Dutar &Setar) Chris Gray (percussion)

Screen Shot 2021-06-17 at 7.01.49 PM.png

Broken Caterpillar: Improvisations for Iranian setar and percussion. A collaboration with Dan Rein and Chris Gray.
Dan has been playing solo traditional Iranian music for many years. Much of the music has no meter.
Chris has played percussion with numerous groups throughout the region.
Through playing together monthly at Ganhdi Mahal Restaurant, they found a way of connecting.
Chris has a way playing the silences, the spaces, whether there was rhythm or not.
Dan threw out the traditional Iranian rule book.
They plugged in.
Broken Caterpillar was born.
We listen, and respond.
Transformations take place.
Who knows what will metamorphosize...
