LA Buckner is a local legend. There isn’t enough room here to list all of the people and bands who have been lucky enough to have collaborated with LA. Nor doesn’t his music fit neatly into any genre. He is a teaching artist and each show is a master class in percussion. A gumbo of styles pours from the stage, jazz, hip hop, Gospel, R&B, and good ole rock and roll! Hitting the drums like they owe him money, LA is a flurry of arms and drumsticks.

L.A. Buckner's history as a scholar and educator of drumming technique shines through in Big Homie, which feels like a graduate-level class in the evolution of African-American rhythms--and thus the roots of all American music--over the past three generations.
