“LADY MIDNIGHT’S RAÍCES: A RETROSPECTIVE OF INFLUENCES”

Lady Midnight performs a special set accompanied by Eric Julio Carranza, Spencer Jalyn, and Miguel Hurtado honoring the singer/songwriters who have influenced her own work which incorporates elements of jazz, soul, salsa, cumbia, pop, r&b, hip-hop, trip-hop, experimental electronic, alternative rock, among other genres. The night welcomes an opening set from singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer Mayyadda whose sound of neo-soul, folksy guitar, pop piano, and sprinkle of trap beats perfectly encompasses the genre she describes as “Black Girl Magic.”

“…the artist healing our future.” - MSP Magazine

“…one of Minnesota's most captivating singers” - Minneapolis Star Tribune

Mayyadda is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Minneapolis who aspires to use her music to make people slow down, find themselves in another perspective, and feel their way towards individual and collective healing. With an eclectic mix of neo-soul vocals, folksy guitar, pop-style piano with trap beats sprinkled in for flavor, she likes to refer to her genre as, “BlackGirlMagic.” She has been active as a recording artist since 2015, releasing four projects since then: most recently, TRY&REMEMBER, a sonic journey thru the risks one takes on their way to healing, which she released in October 2021.
