Sarah Elstran makes music under the name The Nunnery that bridges the gap between bright-eyed pop composition and hands-on atmospheric live layering of voice. Her vocal loops give us the kind of detail and wide, multi-octave range that we might come to expect from a marquee pop star, while her production decisions continually keep us guessing as to what rabbit holes her tracks might fall into next.
Kitchen Congregation is the solo project of Hannah Morton (LASKA, Harlow). The name for the moniker was a light-hearted play on an observation that Hannah made about how it seems social gatherings somehow end with folks gathering around in the kitchen. Kitchen Congregation songs are meant to be relatable. The songs play around with many other observations Hannah has made about herself and the people around her - many touching on personal anxieties - with a bedroom pop sound.
Kitchen Congregation's debut single, "can't find sleep" is about overthinking and having a hard time trusting yourself and your surroundings. Their debut EP, "i'm not having fun anymore' came out in Fall '21.
Wisconsin singer/songwriter Jerrika Mighelle released her first solo album “Like the Sea” in January of 2017. This album has been described as a weighty and atmospheric gem, rife with raw emotions and existential longing. She has toured the midwest gaining attention for her haunting vocals and charming stage presence. Jerrika’s tunes have been featured on radio stations across the country including NPR’s Simply Folk. Her second album “Brightest Star”, released on February 24th, 2021, was written after the sudden passing of her beloved mother. This album is a culmination of the songs she wrote while trying to process this death, and also in an effort to reach her mother through the power of song. Jerrika’s love of music has spread to radio as she hosts her own show on ConvergeRadio.org called Tunes From the Womb in which she plays women/queer/BIPOC centric tunes to help us navigate these unique times we are living in.
