MATTY HARRIS is our Monday Night Jazz Resident and Guest Curator for the month of July!
*(( starting July 11th ))*

Multi-woodwind artist Matty Harris grew up in Minneapolis and was inspired by local legends including saxophonist Mike Lewis and pianist Peter Schimke (Matty's late uncle). Highlights of his music career include several shows at the Clown Lounge, studying music in California and performing with avant-garde masters Wadada Leo Smith, Vinny Golia and Susan Allen, a stint with local favorites Roma di Luna, and making his avant-garde large ensemble LP "DOUBLE SEPTET" with release shows in Los Angeles and Minneapolis at Icehouse. Another high point was travelling to Nepal to perform at Jazzmandu: The Kathmandu Jazz Festival with his quartet, Nick's Cousins, in 2018. Matty feels extremely lucky and grateful to be playing with so many amazing musicians and to be hosting Jazz Mondays - his favorite local series. Other than the groups on this residency, Matty plays with The Real Chuck Norad, Superbus Maximus, Excessive, Brass Messengers and James Everest's sound garden installations.
