Acclaimed poet and storyteller Rosetta Peters and composer JG Everest celebrate the release of their debut chapbook album, "The Hummingbird's Dance" with a special early evening concert at Icehouse, featuring a short reading by three local poets to open the show.
Poet / Storyteller Rosetta "Rosie" Peters and Composer / Musician JG Everest (Lateduster, Roma di Luna, Sans Le Systeme, Gold Minefield) have been closely collaborating since 2017, creating a powerful collection of music + poetry pieces that find transcendent strength and hope from the darkness of abuse and trauma. Peters' mesmerizing words and vocal skills are lifted up and expanded by Everest's deft cinematic soundtracking, performed live as layers of looped texture and melody, and captured expertly on their debut "chapbook" album "The Hummingbird's Dance" by engineer Ben Durrant (Andrew Bird, Roma di Luna).
Based in Mni Sota Makoče, Rosetta is of Yankton, Crow Creek, and Oglala descent. She is a single mother of six beautiful children, four daughters and two sons. She lives in Marine-on-St Croix.
