Ross is a lifelong musician with a passion and curiosity for music that has taken him around the country and the world. He plays for dancer Sachiko “La Chayí” and Zorongo Flamenco Dance School. He has studied Flamenco in Madrid, Spain with El Entri, Jesus de Rosario and Killino Jimenez. In Sevilla, he has studied with Juan del Gasor, “El Perla,” Javier Heredia, and Luis Peña. He obtained his artistic name “El Vecino” from his maestro Juan del Gastor.
Drawn to dance from an early age growing up in Tokyo, Japan, "Eva" Makiko Laabs began her flamenco study with Susana di Palma at Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre in 2008. As a company apprentice, she performed in numerous Zorongo productions between 2014 and 2020. Since the pandemic, she has immersed herself in the study of flamenco cante online with Javier Heredia and La Rhina in Seville, Spain. She enjoys sharing her love of the art form with fellow compañeros of the Twin Cities Flamenco Collective.
Grace ‘La Gracia’ Holthaus was born in Buffalo, Minnesota. In her early years, Grace trained at On Stage School of Dance and received her B.A. in Dance and English from the University of Minnesota Morris. As a flamenco dancer, she has trained and worked with a variety of flamenco companies and artists, including: Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre, Michael Hauser, Sachiko ‘La Chayí’, Deborah Elias Danza Española, and Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Artist Development Program. She also had the honor to dance in Carmen directed by Fenlon Lamb with Mill City Opera in 2018. Recently she was a finalist in the Flamenco Certamen USA produced by Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana and performed at the Bruno Walter Auditorium in New York. As a choreographer, Grace debuted two original pieces through Zorongo Flamenco productions Zorongo Majas: In and Out of the Box and Requiem for Lost Dreams. Grace continues to work as a freelance dance artist and create contemporary flamenco-inspired choreography.
Maggie Temple began studying 15 yrs. ago with Anda Flamenco under the tutelage of Kristina de Sacramento. She has studied at the Flamenco Festival in Jerez with Ana Maria Lopez and other greats of flamenco such as Carmen Ledesma. She’s proud to represent plus-size dancers and strives to shatter stereotypes around size. In her alternate life, Maggie is a dedicated high school world-history teacher.
Ben Abrahamson is a fresh, dynamic voice on the acoustic guitar. He’s studied with flamenco guitarists Juan Ramón Caro at Taller de Músics in Barcelona, Pedro Cortés, Jr., Chuscales, and Michael Hauser. Ben is a regular performer with Zorongo Flamenco, an avid composer, and an active guitar instructor throughout the Twin Cities.
Brigid first encountered flamenco while living abroad in Murcia, Spain, and was inspired to study the art form. Since then, she has taken classes with some of the greatest flamenco dancers, singers, and guitarists of our time, including Farruquito, Angelita Vargas and Juan del Gastor. She gave her first performance in 2009 as a flamenco dancer, and soon after also became a devoted, accompanying dancers in performances during performing in the renowned Summer Music Festival at Spivey Hall (Morrow, GA), the Tellfair museum in Savannah, GA, and the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. Brigid has performed at festivals acrossGeorgia, as well as educational programming in schools. She focuses her practice of flamenco on supporting dancers with her voice. Brigid enjoys instilling a love of flamenco and expression in younger generations, both through performances at schools and teaching flamenco to children. Brigid feels fortunate to have had magical opportunities to dance and sing as an accompanist in classes taught by some of the most accomplished artists, such as Juan Paredes and Juan Debel. Brigid says in those moments, surrounded by talented peers and teachers, she finds inspiration that drives her love of flamenco.
