Spin the wheel captain, I need some corn! Jackie Kean is hittin’ the Minneapolis scene like a can of beans, refried.
With their untimid, maximalist approach to making music, Jackie Kean’s members just can’t help themselves. Resisting the confines of rock & indie-pop templates, their music bursts at the seams with the bold, frenetic whims of confused 20-something musicians.
Aesha Minor, the fictional constellation and music project from Austin James (YYY) and Matthew Jon (I,Colossus, Lunch Duchess), interleaves the varied styles and tastes of the two artists to create a vision that is wholly unique. Equipped with lo-fi drum samples, analog synthesizers and acoustic guitars, this project creates a contrast between the synthetic and organic, redefining the walls of dream pop. Filling out the live elements of the band include an ensemble cast including Jenessa LaSota (Elle PF) on bass and Jeff Marcovis (Palm Psalm, Curve, Lunch Duchess) on drums.
Going by the stage name, YYY, Austin comes from a world of lush experimental electro-pop that complements the intimate and earthy vocal stylings of Matthew Jon. Constellations, by their nature, organize seemingly disparate objects into the semblance of a unified whole. Aesha Minor.
