The Cherry Pit© Presents: Intimate Inquiry

Starring: Marvelous, Ada Magdalena, Charmaine

The Cherry Pit© is a Minneapolis-based community of musicians and artists dedicated to uplifting a wide variety of local performers. We are a traveling house show, and prioritize hosting safe and comfortable events in spaces that feel like lush living rooms. An open jam will ensue after the performance.

Intimate Inquiry is an exploration into the imagination of the three fabulous artists listed above, an incomprehensibly funky fusion of unsimilar sounds.

Marvelous will provide the dramatic, the theatrical, and the jubilant.

Ada will provide gargantuan emotion by way of electric exploration.

Charmaine shall seamlessly transport you into the core of your heart.

The Cherry Pit© OPEN JAM SESSION will begin 47 minutes after the show’s completion, and all are welcome to participate. Bring your listening ears, and the instrument of your choice.

The Cherry Pit© Jamifesto

Listen-

Keep your ears open to every sound resonating in the space, every vibration is communicating something, and it is your responsibility to hear these sounds and respond to them. This may mean singing the same melody in response, it may mean digging deeper into the groove, it may also mean laying out, and not playing a sound at all. Listening is the most important action one can take as an artist and it is the foundation from which The Cherry Pit© Sessions thrive. Any artist that wishes to take a “solo” should have the opportunity to do so without fear of having their toes stepped on.

All Players are Created Equal-

Non musicians are welcome to participate in our jam session, regardless of experience or skill level.

Whether you play the drums, keyboard, guitar, bass, or vocals, everyone holds the same inherent value at The Cherry Pit© Session. This is not a vocalist-centric space or any other instrument for that matter. Every artist should have their moment to shine, regardless of their chosen instrument.

Pass The Rock-

All people in attendance are welcome to join in on the music and we encourage you to express yourself as intensely as you wish, however, we aim to grant the same opportunity to many other folks at the session, and after playing on a song or two, we ask that you pass the mic and move to a different instrument, or exit the stage to support the music from the audience.

Respect The Space-

Respect means adhering to people's physical and social boundaries, if somebody wants to be left alone, or expresses that they feel infringed upon, it is your responsibility to be empathetic and leave them be. The Cherry Pit is not a strictly sober space, however, we put people’s safety first, which means; if you are out of control, or are making people uncomfortable you will be asked to leave.

Sharing instruments, gear, and stage space are regular parts of sessions, and we expect you to treat people’s instruments with care. We travel, rotating from venue to venue hosting our events. It is imperative that we all take efforts to clean up after ourselves and care for the establishment that is allowing us to host Cherry Pit Sessions.

Circle Up-

Communicating musical energy into the center of a circle is our sonic priority. Eye contact is an excellent way to connect with your fellow musicians during the jam, which is why we always orient our jams in a circular fashion, when possible. Humans have been congregating in circles for millions of years, we have a biological predisposition to respond in a truthful and forthright manner when arranged in this way, which is why we place such importance on Circling Up!

Allow Yourself to be Free-

If our space is operating properly, you should feel empowered to sing, dance and express as if you were alone in your bedroom. We want to see you express the inner depths of your soul through the medium of spontaneous musical interaction. Our hope is that the environment we are cultivating naturally compels you to show everyone your inner child, and reconnect with a genuine sense of Play.
