Winter's Arms started out as a simple trip to Williamson Magnetic Recording Company (Madison's newest all analog studio) to try out some new ideas that I had been working on at home. I had no idea that this would become the basis for my first solo album. After the first session, I found such a cathartic release from the performances that I knew I had to push the project forward. At the time, I was suffering from a sever bought of depression, and that introspective and emotional mood can be felt in each piece. What resulted was five tracks of meditative and melancholy ambient saxophone loops that feature subtle effects processing and filtering. All of the pieces were performed live without and overdubs or editing and only vey subtle mixing and mastering in order to feature the analog tape sounds of the studio.
