Park Evans’ Firebell
Firebell is Park Evans (guitar), Graydon Peterson (bass), and Jay Epstein (drums). Evans is a versatile guitarist who draws heavily on rock and world music influences and has been a mainstay on the Twin Cities improvised music scene for a number of years. He and Peterson, who leads his own quartet as well, handle most of the writing in this captivating and ethereal trio. Epstein, who has an extensive jazz career having played with the likes of Bill Carrothers, Dean Magraw, and Bill Stewart, completes the group with his masterful drumming and cymbal work, for which he has garnered critical acclaim throughout his career.
Pete Whitman is a saxophonist, composer and arranger based in Minneapolis, MN. He has toured the US, Japan, and Brazil with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and has also performed with such distinguished ensembles and musicians as the Minnesota Orchestra, Jack McDuff, Curtis Fuller, the Woody Herman Orchestra, the JazzMN Orchestra, JAZZAX Saxophone Quartet, Laura Caviani, Andres Prado and is the leader of the Pete Whitman's X-tet. Whitman has also recorded extensively as a sideman and has three CDs out under his name: Departure Point, The Sound of Water, and Where's When. His collective project Mississippi features pianist Kavyesh Kavirah, bassist Jeff Bailey, and drummer Kevin Washington.
