Paul Spring:
• 25 years old, red hair, and Singer-Songwriter from Saint Cloud who has released 3 folk albums and a Children's album.
• Great-grandson of American poet/war hero Joyce Kilmer and impressionist painter Frederick Frieseke.
• 9th of 10 kids, raised by two English professors on a steady diet of classic literature and classical music.
A little more about Towards a Center:
• Written on nylon string over the course of a year while his girlfriend Sophia Heymans painted in the next room.
• Sent demos to Homer Steinweiss and later workshopped them on a family farm in St. Joseph, MN.
• Recorded at Diamond Mine in Queens, NY with the help of Leon Michels (El Michels Affair, Black Keys, Adele) and produced by Homer (Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, St. Vincent, Menahan Street Band).

After graduating from University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a Bachelor of Music Education, Minneapolis saxophonist and composer Chris Thomson toured nationally and internationally with multiple artists including the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Since then he has appeared on stage with Delfeayo Marsalis and many of the Twin Cities finest musicians; the New Standards, Matt Wilson, Mason Jennings, Roma di Luna, S. Carey, Anthony Cox, Dosh, Aby Wolf, Chris Morrissey Quartet, Dave King, Dean Magraw, Spaghetti Western String Co., Patrick Harison, and many others. As a teaching artist Thomson has served on the faculties of Hamline University, St Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, and MacPhail Center for Music in addition to his current position at Main Street School of Performing Arts. As a performer and leader, he has three albums to his credit: 2007's "The Three Elements" an electronic/acoustic full length featuring original songwriting and performance for laptop, loop pedal, saxophone, and bass clarinet; and 2010's EP "Rustic Sky," featuring the Thomson Quartet: (Chris Thomson) Saxophone, (Patrick Harison) Accordion, (James Buckley) Bass, and (Sean Carey) Drums; and April 2015's "Empathy EP" also by the Thomson Quartet featuring the immensely creative drummer Dosh, bassist James Buckley, accordionist Patrick Harison, and saxophonist/composer CT. As a composer Thomson has received funding from the Jerome Foundation and the MN State Arts Board for his collaboration with choreographer Uri Sands and internationally renowned modern dance company, TU Dance, for an evening-length's work titled, "Sense(abilities)."
