Leah Tousignant:
In the third grade, Leah Tousignant dazzled her classmates with an incredibly original rendition of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" by simultaneously playing the piano with her toes and the recorder with her nose. Today, Leah continues to dazzle audiences with her smooth vocals, funky piano chops, and irresistible charm. Leah began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and continues to work towards perfecting her craft. She recently finished up her degree at McNally Smith College of Music, which she attended on a full tuition scholarship from Diana Ross.
After calling St. Paul, MN her home for 24 years, Leah T made the recent decision to move towards the Pacific coast and has been diving head first into the Seattle music scene for the past few months.
Currently, Leah is putting a great deal of her creative efforts into her recent CD release. The album is filled with imaginative lyricism, playful melodies, and groovy beats. Leah’s endearing pop tunes take the listener to an enchanting place inside her ever-whirling mind. The album includes songs like Somewhere Far Away, and epic soundscape that transports the listener to a whimsical world of hypotheticals and improbables. While My Little Green Friend has been played for a number of audiences over the past year, it still remains a mystery who this companion is. The folky fan favorite, $3.99 Wine, is a playful love song – that is, if true love can exist between a girl and a bottle of cheap booze.
While her days of playing the piano with her feet are long gone, her playful, energetic spirit prevails. She is still every bit as creative and innovative and an outright entertainer. Her inherent optimism is contagious to say the least. She has the unique ability to make an impact on most every person she encounters by simply being one of the most amicable gals you could ever meet. A friend once advised her, “Be yourself ‘n stuff. I think people like that.” In fact, people love it. The debut album will certainly be the first of many great products Leah will manifest as her career is only just beginning to unfold.
