Pavel Jany:
Pavel Jany’s diversity and eclecticism in his guitar playing and composing have no boundaries, and his long musical journey encompasses many various styles. His classical guitar and compositional backgrounds were enriched by influences from East European Gypsy music of his native Czechoslovakia, to the works of jazz fusion guitarists Ralph Towner, Al Di Meola, Pat Metheny, Biréli Lagrène, and many Brazilian guitar masters.
His three year stay in West Africa and his travels to Brazil and other South American countries deepened his interest in West-African and Afro-Latin music, and his passion for samba, bossa nova, and Brazilian jazz. Pavel Jany has founded several international jazz projects on the Twin Cities’ music scene, including Brazilian jazz ensemble “Ticket To Brasil”, instrumental trio “Talking Strings”, and modern jazz group “World Jazz Collegium”.
He frequently participates in various jazz and international music projects, and he has worked and / or recorded with nationally recognized artists such as Estaire Godinez, Lucia Newell, Linda Peterson, Chris Lomheim, Doug Little, Marc Anderson, and many others.
