The repertoire of Charanga Tropical features classic danzones as well as a vibrant mix of modern salsa and original compositions. For its groundbreaking tour to Cuba Charanga Tropical assembled a repertoire of unique danzones by Cuban composers that notably quote American melodies by Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, and others. The works shows that artistic exchange between American and Cuban musicians has been happening long before any recent political detente.
