L.A. Buckner is our resident curator for Monday nights in September! This week features White Boy Summer, Jada Lynn and J. Webb.
Jada Lynn, 22, is a Minneapolis based multidisciplinary artist and musician. Jada's goals are to share versatile sound yet channeling the real and raw emotions through her words. As well as bring interconnectedness from shared experiences through art and music. "Music has always been something I’ve deeply resonated with since a youngin’. My creative outlet for however I am feeling whether it is good or bad, simply because I know I’m not the only one going through it.”
White Boy Summer emerges as a daring force to be reckoned with. With Thomas Abban's mesmerizing guitar skills and infectious vocals merging with Arthur "L.A." Buckner's thunderous drumming and soulful harmonies, this duo is here to take you on a sonic adventure like no other. These two premier artists from the Twin Cities fearlessly dive headfirst into uncharted musical territory, freely exploring the entire spectrum of the African diaspora with reckless abandon. White Boy Summer fears no genre, no convention, and no judgment.
With influences hailing from the soul stirring melodies of Nina Simone and Howlin’ Wolf to the innovative productions of Ye West and Lee Scratch Perry; “White Boy Summer” is the musical embodiment of all the things that come to mind when you hear that title. So, buckle up and get ready to surrender to this wild ride. It's an adventure you won't want to miss.
Arthur “L.A.” Buckner's deep infatuation with music began at an early age. At age 3 he would practically go an entire church service without looking away from the drums. His father took notice and shortly thereafter purchased his first drum kit.
L.A. Buckner is a performing musician, teaching artist, and producer from the Northside of Minneapolis. He holds a master’s degree in Percussion Performance from McNally Smith College of Music. Currently, LA serves as co-host for the two-time Webby award-winning PBS music education YouTube series Sound Field.
In August 2020, LA took iTunes by storm with the release of his project BiG HOMiE, which reached the #1 Jazz position within 24 hours of its release.
