In celebration of the vinyl edition of their latest album, Pretty Random But What Happened to the Heiruspecs, being available, Heiruspecs is returning to the stage of Icehouse for what will no doubt be a celebratory night featuring world class music. Their friend and collaborator MaLLy will share the bill with them and dj extraordinaire Ms. Lakesha will also join up to warm up the crowd and spin between sets.

“A sweaty indoor-summer show is a magical thing and it’s been quite some time since we’ve played one,” said Sean ‘Twinkie Jiggles’ McPherson, from Heiruspecs. “In the summer of ‘21 pre-Delta COVID we had our joyous return to playing live in the courtyard of Icehouse. To be able to safely convene indoors with two hundred of our closest friends is the perfect way to celebrate having our new album available on wax. It’s going to be a great night.”

Heiruspecs is a live hip-hop band out of Saint Paul Central that formed in 1997. In their 26 years of existence they have toured the country extensively, released six critically acclaimed records and shared stages with the likes of The White Stripes, Black Eyed Peas, Cake, The Walkmen, Lyrics Born and more. In addition to being recognized as the definitive live hip-hop band out of the Twin Cities, Heiruspecs has been dedicated to giving back to their community, having distributed over $40,000 to St. Paul Central students through their annual Heiruspecs Scholarship awards. Heiruspecs is performing in support of their most recent release, the 2022 effort “Pretty Random But What Happened to the Heiruspecs”. The album showed up in the Star Tribune’s Top Ten Minnesota albums of 2022, nabbing the sixth slot.

MaLLy is an independent Hip Hop artist, educator and entrepreneur born and raised in south Minneapolis. As a rising star out of the Midwest, he’s released four critically acclaimed albums, received the McKnight Foundation Fellowship and has toured nationally and internationally with legendary acts like Atmosphere and Brother Ali. Over the last decade, MaLLy’s highly personal content, artistic duality, bravado and lyricism has resulted in him being recognized by national press outlets, including the Star Tribune, HipHopDX, and Complex Magazine. Furthermore, his impressive studio recordings and stellar live performances gained the attention of prominent industry figures such as Monie Love, Sway Calloway, Smif-N-Wessun and Chuck D, who’ve all lauded his work.

A storyteller exploring themes of love, social justice and spirituality, MaLLy treats every song as a letter of reflection, or rhythmic prayer on his quest toward truth and wellness in a challenging world.
